Scooters are just so chic! Besides the humble bicycle, an electric scooter is the next best green mode of transportation around.

In a survey conducted by the Piaggio Group (maker of the  Vespas) they concluded, that one in every three Americans would consider buying a scooter to get around everyday. I’ll admit, when gas prices were soaring, I actually thought about getting a scooter somewhere down the line.

Here’s another interesting fact, scooter sales have jumped up some 200% and are still trending upwards. I think it’s safe to say, and many scooter enthusiasts will probably agree, that the Vectrix VX-1 electric scooter is a sweet ride.

This all-highway capable vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 50 mph in 6.8 seconds with a max speed of 62 mph, has a range of 35 to 55 miles and is powered by a 125-volt nickel metal hydride battery that can be recharged in a couple of hours. Just think, you can laugh your way past every gas station in sight! Price, around $11,000 (I know, it’s kind of steep but you’ll be taking a step in the right direction towards reducing your carbon print).  read more at examiner.com
